Jadi Pelanggan RS Borromeus….

Posted in Personal Life on December 9, 2008 by ivanwidyarsa

Footprint

Footprints are the impressions or images left behind by a person walking (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Footprint).

Nay, this is not an article about that footprint, but another Footprint…

It’s been two months since I adopted a new pet. Talking about pet, we usually think about some cute and funny animals like hamsters, cats, or dogs. But my pet is not any from I mentioned before, but it is  a carpet python (Morelia spilota variegata). It’s name is Footprint. Here’s its photo. Look at the pattern on its head, and you will know where its name come from.

Footprint

My experience with snakes started when I was in elementary school. My father’s elder brother worked in a pet shop. I played there when I was on a holiday, and I was introduced that snake is not a bad animal (uhmm…. non-venomous snake of course…). The snake I handled there was albino rat snake (the first snake I handle).

Then more than 10 years passed since then. Until in 2006, a new mall named PVJ (Paris Van Java) was opened in Bandung. The mall a pet shop, and the pet shop sells snakes too. There, I once again experienced snake handling. And from the shopkeeper, I learned (a little) about caring a snake, snake’s prize, and other things. From that point, I plan to keep one as a pet.

Two years has passed. In April 20th 2008, I bought Footprint from Toko Reptil (relocated from PVJ to Giant). It’s not easy to handle it at that moment, It has bitten me once…

Wounded Hand

Wounded Hand

Look at the size of my wound. Its little mouth can open that wide. But it’s okay, the wound didn’t hurt.
Well, that’s old story. Footprint has become a calm and trustworthy pet right now.

Footprint is now sized about 60 cm length (grow about 10 cm in 2 months) and its thickest body is as thick as my middle finger. It eats a mouse once every two weeks. I hope it will always healthy and can live long enough (10 – 15 years).
